Anti-foaming additives

Treatment of surface finishing wastewater

We have a wide variety of defoamer additives designed to suit the specific needs of each process and each industry. Our defoaming additives are highly effective in controlling foam in water treatment and purification processes. In addition, we offer technical advice to help you select the right defoamer additive for your process.

We offer defoaming additives for water purification. Our defoamer chemicals offer high performance and effectiveness in controlling foaming in wastewater treatment processes.

We offer the following types of additives to eliminate or reduce foaming:

  • CX-98: Silicone based defoamer for universal use.
  • CX-108: Non-silicone defoamer for universal use with a powerful defoaming and defoaming action. Free of nonylphenols and nonylphenol ethoxylates.

When are defoaming additives necessary for water treatment?

When water is purified, conditions that favor foaming are often created, such as water agitation, the release of dissolved gases and the presence of detergents and other chemicals.

Foam can be a problem in wastewater treatment systems because it can clog equipment, reduce the efficiency of the treatment process and affect the quality of the treated water. Antifoaming additives are added to the water to reduce or prevent foaming, which helps keep the treatment process running efficiently and improve the quality of the treated water.

Antifoam additives can be based on silicone, mineral oils, alcohols, surfactants or polymers. Each type of additive has its own properties and is used in different situations according to the specific needs of the wastewater treatment process.

Types of defoaming additives

There are several types of defoaming additives for water purification, each with specific properties and designed for particular applications. It is important to select the right type of defoamer additive for the particular treatment process to ensure its effectiveness and minimize any negative impact on the environment.

Some of the most common types of defoamer additives and their uses are described below:

  • Silicone-based defoaming additives: These additives are very effective in controlling foaming in wastewater treatment systems and are widely used in the food, pharmaceutical and water treatment industries. Silicone-based defoamer additives are very stable at high temperatures and alkaline conditions, making them ideal for use in wastewater treatment processes involving high temperatures and alkaline pH.
  • Mineral oil-based defoaming additives: These additives are commonly used in industrial processes to control foaming in aqueous solutions. They are very effective in reducing foam formation on the water surface and in aeration systems, such as those found in sedimentation tanks.
  • Alcohol-based defoaming additives: These additives are very effective in controlling foaming in wastewater treatment systems and are commonly used in the chemical and food processing industries. Alcohol-based defoaming additives are especially useful for foam control in aeration systems and agitation processes.
  • Surfactant-based defoaming additives: These additives are effective in controlling foaming in aqueous solutions and are commonly used in industrial processes, such as food processing and chemical manufacturing. Surfactant-based defoamer additives are especially useful for foam control in agitation systems and in the paint industry.

Applications for our defoamer additives

In the water treatment industry, defoamer additives are used in a wide variety of applications, such as foam control in wastewater treatment processes, prevention of foaming in drinking water distribution systems, among others.

Antifoaming additives are used in a wide variety of water treatment industries where foaming can be a problem for process efficiency and treated water quality. The use of these additives helps to improve process efficiency and reduce production costs in these industries.

Some of the industries in which defoamer additives are most commonly used for water treatment are:

  • Food industry: In the food industry, defoaming additives are used in wastewater treatment and in the production of beverages, dairy products, candies, chocolates and other food products.
  • Chemical industry: Antifoam additives are used in the chemical industry for wastewater treatment and in the production of chemical products such as detergents, paints, pharmaceuticals, petrochemical products, among others.
  • Pulp and paper industry: Defoamer additives are used in pulp and paper production for wastewater treatment and in the removal of ink from waste paper.
  • Petroleum industry: In the petroleum industry, defoamer additives are used in wastewater treatment and foam removal in oil and gas production.
  • Mining industry: In the mining industry, defoamer additives are used for froth control in flotation processes, which are used to separate minerals from tailings.
  • Textile industry: In the textile industry, defoamer additives are used in the treatment of wastewater generated by the fabric dyeing and finishing processes.
  • Pulp industry: In the pulp industry, defoamer additives are used in the treatment of wastewater generated by pulp production processes.
