Vacuum evaporators

Treatment of surface finishing wastewater

CONIEX supplies vacuum evaporators with the aim of solving, in an effective and definitive way, the problem of wastewater management from surface finishing processes, concentrating the polluting product to the maximum and recovering the water which, thus distilled, can be reused in the following production cycles.

The installation of a CONIEX vacuum evaporator allows to solve the problem of wastewater treatment with a moderate investment and very low operating costs, which allows to amortize the equipment investment in a relatively short period of time, especially when water reuse and recovery of valuable materials is possible.

The reuse of the distillate in the washing cycle provides considerable economic savings, which in turn solves the problem for users of controlling discharges to check water hardness or salinity.

The reduction in the volume of wastewater generated avoids all the logistical problems related to its storage and transportation, while at the same time reducing the costs derived from waste management by a waste management company.

The choice of a CONIEX evaporator is an optimal solution for companies that carry out surface treatment and finishing processes, as well as in other types of industrial activities, as they offer an efficient and profitable management of the wastewater generated in their production processes. Evaporators can operate independently, or as part of a complete wastewater treatment plant, where they further purify water from other wastewater treatment processes.

The range of CONIEX vacuum evaporators includes a series of equipment that, due to their characteristics and dimensions, can meet the requirements and needs of a wide variety of industries and applications. We have heat pump evaporators, heating with forced circulation and exchangers with different effects, to achieve maximum performance in wastewater treatment with the lowest energy expenditure.

Applications

During the processes of surface treatment and finishing of parts, different types of wastewater are generated and need to be managed. The most common wastewaters during these processes are:

  • Die casting: Concentration of working additives (anti-adhesives, glycols, lubricants).
  • Galvanic: Recovery of metallics from washing (Chromium, Nickel, Copper), Concentration of contaminated baths (degreasing, pickling), concentration of regeneration water from resin equipment.
  • Heat treatments: Recovery of quenching salts, purification of quenching and washing water.
  • Mechanical: concentration of oily emulsions, concentration of finished vibro discharge, concentration of contaminated rinsing baths.

Range of models

We supply a complete range of vacuum evaporators, which can treat different flow rates as well as a wide range of contaminants present in wastewater. The models supplied by CONIEX are as follows:

Vacuum evaporators with heat pump

In heat pump evaporators, the product to be distilled is sucked into the evaporator by exploiting the depression in the kettle generated by the vacuum circuit. The heat pump refrigeration cycle evaporates the wastewater to be treated by boiling it and then cools the vapors produced, returning the product to the liquid state.

The main advantages of heat pump evaporators are:

  • Low energy consumption
  • Good concentration of process residue
  • Compact dimensions

Depending on the wastewater to be treated, we have two types of heat pump evaporators.

  1. Heating with submerged coil:
  • For the treatment of non-fouling liquids
  • For oil emulsions with concentrations of less than 20%.
  • For wastewater from pressure die-casting and industrial degreasing
  1. Heating by external jacket with internal scraper:
  • Apparatus suitable for any type of non-aggressive wastewater
  • The scraper favors the thermal exchange and the concentration of the residue avoiding incrustations on the walls of the kettle.

Forced circulation evaporators with external heat exchangers

Forced circulation evaporators have the following characteristics:

  • High hourly production
  • Low foaming tendency
  • Compact dimensions
  • Single or multiple effect devices (energy savings up to 50%)

They are specially designed for the treatment of larger flows of wastewater:

  • Wastewater with concentrations up to 20% of suspended solids
  • Wastewater with concentrations up to 1,25 kg/liter density

For a higher concentration they can be coupled to a concentrator (device with internal scraper at the end of the treatment)

Hot water or steam heated evaporators

In this equipment the product reaches the boiling temperature by means of a jacket heated by hot water or steam. The condensation of the vapors is carried out with air or water condensation coils.

They are simple to manufacture and manage, guaranteeing high production due to their optimal water/steam heat exchange and are relatively inexpensive in construction.

Environmental efficiency

Vacuum evaporators are an excellent technology for complying with wastewater discharge regulations, offering high performance while ensuring that companies are in tune with a growing environmental sensitivity, which demands new ways of managing natural resources and waste produced in industrial activities.

Circular economy principles, which are based on recycling raw materials and reducing waste production to almost zero, are the latest development in environmental conservation policies. When it comes to wastewater treatment, vacuum evaporators are the most efficient and cost-effective technology to ensure responsible use of natural resources and effective management of the waste generated.
